Surfing The Chain Of Fire by Surfing World Magazine
Surfing the Chain of Fire — Surfing World, 1986
A classic slice of Australian surf publishing from the golden years of Surfing World.
Published in 1986, Surfing the Chain of Fire: In Search of a Lost Dream follows Bruce Channon and Hugh McLeod’s journey into the Pacific, combining surfing, travel, landscape and adventure in the unmistakable visual style that made Surfing World such an influential magazine.
Packed with colour surf photography, wild graphics and imagery from an era when surf travel still carried a genuine sense of discovery, the book also features writing by Terry Fitzgerald.
The journey took Surfing World into Hawaii, including Kauai, with the now-iconic cover combining a Hanalei lineup with an erupting Kilauea behind the Na Pali coast.
